The Bump Tales: Week 35

February 2, 2011 The Bump Tales 3

Looks like it’s about that time again. This week on The Bump Tales, I’m dealing with yet another bout of the cold, feels worse this time around though. Also, I started the first of my weekly OB/GYN appts, which is both good (I’m nearing the end, yay) and bad (a lot of time to take out for boring appts).

Well, I don’t know if I’m having a relapse of the cold I had last week or if this is a new one developing, but it started on Sunday with the persistent coughing and on Monday I felt like crap. I barely had any energy, had a stuffy/runny nose, and was coughing up a storm. My sweet Hubbi did his best to help me feel better, but you, there’s only so much you can do for stuff like this. Luckily, I went to the doctor and he said it was safe to take some medications like Tylenol and Robitussin, and even though I like to do without the meds during pregnancy, I decided I would try a little bit of Robitussin to help with the coughing. I’ll try to limit it to twice a day and see if I get any better. I’ve always been taking Halls, which I’ve never done before because I like to tough it out, but my throat has been KILLING me so I thought I’d give it a try. So far it’s working out fine, although I have to take like 10 of them, haha. I just hate being sick while pregnant because it makes everything so much worse. I feel so bad whenever I have a coughing fit because it wrenches at my gut, which can’t be comfortable for the baby. But when I went to the doctor, I heard her heartbeat, he said it was healthy, and she’s still moving around like normal, if not more, so I’m hoping everything’s okay in there.

The doctor’s visit was good, I got in and out pretty quickly and I met the last doctor in the practice. I don’t know why the first doctor said there was 8 doctors in the practice when there are only 4?!?! But today I met the head guy (the others are just “associates”, haha) and he is so nice. He definitely showed his concern for me and answered all my questions nicely. I have to say I’ve liked all the doctors, except for, maybe, the first doctor, but only because she seemed like she didn’t want to be there that day and made me wait a long time for her. Hopefully, the next time I see her she’ll be better. Anyways, I told the doctor about my increasing pelvic pain and he suggested getting a maternity belt to ease the strain on my pelvic muscles due to the increased weight. Sigh, I wish someone had told me this earlier because I feel like getting it now would be such a waste. I don’t know if I want to spend over $30 on an item I’ll only wear for the next 3-4 weeks, but then again, it would bring 3-4 weeks of relief from all this pain. Should I suck it up and deal with the pain for a few more weeks or give in and buy the belt?!?!

New This Week:

– Well, all the experts say the baby should be about 5 lbs right now, so I’m hoping BG2 is complying with that or is already bigger than that. My belly does look and feel like it’s all baby right now and I’m pretty sure I only gained like 2 lbs in the last two weeks, so it can’t be that I’m getting fatter, haha. Or maybe I’m just retaining more water. I really do want a big, chubby baby though, at least 7-8 lbs.
– I think BG2 has picked a new time to be extremely active, the morning (she’s rolling around in there right now actually). She’s constantly moving around and kicking my side in the morning. She still moves around somewhat at night, but I’m noticing it more so in the mornings. I do love feeling her move and it hits me that pretty soon she’ll be outta my uterus and causing a ruckus in the real world. Crazy how life is isn’t it?

I did use the belt thingy for a while, but it mostly got in the way. My symphisis pubis seperated and it hurts more with each child because of all that stretching from the baby coming down the birth canal. So I just sucked it up. I am also one to go without epidurals or pain meds with all my births, that is 4 of them. But I remember the pain, low deep in your pelvis from the weight of the baby. My Ob said bad for mom but good when ready to push because more room for baby to move out and easier delivery. I don't know if any of that helped. I hope you feel better. You should get it and I bet you could find it cheaper on ebay or Amazon. Praying for a healthy mom and baby. God Bless.
