This post is SO overdue, but I thought I’d update you all on how my birthday went this year.
I don’t know if it was the stress from school or the new baby, or just the fact that I’m getting older, but I honestly could have just let this birthday pass me by. I really didn’t want to go anywhere or do anything, and since we’re on a budget, I didn’t want The Hubbi to get me anything.
But, he insisted that I at least have a celebratory dinner with him and my closest friends. So the day went pretty much like this…
I wanted him to take the day off of work so we could spend it together as a family. It was just me, him, and BG2 (BG1 was in school during the day) and we took a nice, relaxing trip to the mall. We didn’t realli buy anything, it was just nice to window shop. We did, however, get my dumb old Macbook Air fixed (it’s like the 10th time it broke) and I got my FREE Birthday drink from Starbucks (love them). Afterward, we picked up BG1 and took her to gymnastics.
Well, as luck would have it, one of my favorite authors, Alyson Noel, happened to be in Philly doing her book signing tour for her latest release, Everlasting. I asked The Hubbi if we could go see her, and of course he said “yes”, so I eagerly waited in line to talk to her and get my books signed while he tended to the little one (BG1 was standing in line w/me because she’s heard me talk about Alyson Noel plenty of times before and seen me read her books, haha). It was definitely a great perk in my birthday and I was so happi to meet her and get her to sign all my books.
Afterward, we dropped BG2 at my sister’s place and headed to Pod for dinner. Unfortunately, my best friend couldn’t make it because she was in Las Vegas at the time, but my other best friends were there and it was a good time nonetheless. The food wasn’t realli that great though, basically a meager substitution for Buddakan (Asian Fusion) and I’m on a diet anyways (this is actually the first year I didn’t have cake for my birthday!) so I barely ate anything, but it was nice to chat with friends. (Now that I think about it, it probably would’ve been a good time to try out Sensa, a weight loss program I recently heard about. Apparently it would’ve made me feel fuller faster, so I could’ve at least had a slice of cake without undoing my diet!)
The biggest surprise of the night, even though I knew he would do it, was when The Hubbi gave me his present. He knew I was going on and on about how much I wanted a pair of Louboutins, just a simple black pair to say I have one, and he, very sweetly, saved up his own money (skipped a few lunches) and sold some of his sneakers from his collection to get me a pair of heels. Granted, I wasn’t as grateful as he would have liked me to be because I was worried about the money, but the whole thing was so sweet and touching, it made me feel realli lucky to have a guy who would do anything and all he could to spoil me. Love you Husband!
Well, that’s the basic gist of my Birthday. I did get a very nice massage GC from my little sister, which I desperately needed (my back had so many knots) and my brother gave me a gift card to Amazon (books! books! books!).
Now I’m 26 years old.
On to the next one…
