Everlasting is the 6th and final book in The Immortals Series and this is where Alyson Noel’s creative and unique writing style really shows through. I was highly anticipating this book to see how it all ends and if Damen and Ever really do get a happily ever after and I have to say, Alyson delivered!
After finally seeing how it all started and why Damen and Ever have been forced to live so many lives apart, a great and twisted love story I might add, you see Ever embark on her greatest journey of all. As I’ve said before, I love how Ever has grown and evolved over the series and she’s finally at a place where she’s happy with herself and her destiny. Damen wasn’t my favorite character in this book, mostly due to his stubbornness, but he did come through at times and I’ve never wavered on how much I enjoyed their relationship and love story.
What was probably the highlight of the book was the philosophical and spiritual theme that was present throughout the book. Although I’m not into that kind of stuff, Noel definitely left me thinking about life, true happiness, and what it all means. After attending the signing event for this book release and hearing Noel talk about how she researches thoroughly for all her books, I have to admit that it really shines through in this last one. All the characters learn some hard life lessons and come to terms with reality and “the way the world works”.
Personally, I was in more for the love story and the paranormal side of it all, which kept me going, but I didn’t mind the spiritual side of it and found it highly enlightening. Noel’s writing truly stands out and I love that she adds depth and character to her stories. I also really loved all the characters she created in this series, even the ones I hated, and it’s crazy to see how entwined all their lives really are once the story plays out. If you’re a fan of the series, you won’t be disappointed with this book. If you haven’t read it, get on it!
