In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.
When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.
Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again.
When I first heard about this book, I thought I’d be dealing with the typical angels and paranormal romance. I’m happy that I was wrong. I truly loved everything about this book!
Plum sets the scene in Paris, the most romantic city in the world, and throws together two lost souls, Kate and Vincent, who couldn’t be more perfect for each other. It was love at first sight and I liked how their romance was believable. So many books try to throw people together, have them fall in love without any pretense, and expect the reader to believe they’re meant to be. Plum develops Kate and Vincent’s relationship really well and you get to see them battle with their emotions and realizing whether their love is right or wrong.
I also enjoyed the Revenant story, having never really heard of this type of creature before, I was fascinated by Plum’s take on it and I liked how she slowly eased the reader into the whole story behind it all, yet still leaving a good bit of mystery along the way. The characters were great too. I loved Charlotte, Jules, and Ambrose; each with a unique and fun personality, I would love to meet them in person!
And Vincent, ah, Vincent! In my mind, he was this dashing, handsome man who you can’t help but fall for. A hopeless romantic and true gentleman, who also knew how to be playful and work his charm. I devoured every minute of him and Kate together and reveled in all the steamy scenes Plum so tastefully depicted.
A unique and epic love story filled with romance, action, paranormal myth unlike any other. Die for Me is a page-turner that will entertain you, move you, and have you craving for more. I can’t wait to read the next one!
