It’s pronounced Viet. Babe.
As in, I’m Vietnamese (proud of it) and I’m a Babe (it’s the truth)!
I’m sure anyone who stumbles across my blog (even those who have been longtime followers), sees my email address or Twitter handle ask themselves, “What does her (blog) name mean?”.
|Who wasn’t on AOL back in the day?!?!|
Back in the good old days when there were AOL chat rooms (remember those?!?) and Instant Messaging, people had to choose unique and interesting screen names. I came from the generation where “3 = E” and after playing around with some names, I developed “Vi3tI3abe”, where the “I3 =B”. Ordinarily people would just use a lowercase “l”, but I liked using an “I “since my name is Vi (pronounced “Vee”) and I’ve trademarked that moniker all over the web. All of my IRL friends know whenever they see that, it’s me!

It’s my email address, my screen name, my Twitter handle, and I incorporated it into my blog name, opting for the “B” instead of the “I3” to make it simpler, but still leaving the “3” in place of the “E” in Viet.
Complicated? Yes! Describes me? Absolutely!
I will tell you this though, I didn’t plan on naming my blog “Confessions of a Vi3tBabe”. I definitely wanted to keep my moniker and somehow work around that and I thought the whole “Confessions” part would be cute and playful like “Confessions of a Shopaholic” (one of my favorite books, btw). That was back when I just joined the blogging community and discovered the world of Mommy Bloggers and the like. After over a year I’ve come to realize “Confessions” is quite played out and a bit long for a blog name.
|Read. This. Book.|
Sometimes I wish I could change my blog name, but I honestly wouldn’t know to what. Plus, I’ve branded myself so deeply into this name that, even though it is a bit long and played out, it works for me. It definitely speaks the truth, because I never lie on this blog (unless its for privacy/protective matters) and I haven’t come up with a good enough alternative to go with my moniker.
So. This is me! This is my blog! And I’m sticking to it!
