Shari Jones needs to get a life. Preferably someone else's. Single, homeless and jobless, Indo-American Shari agrees to her best friend's whacky scheme: travel to Mumbai, pose as Amrita, and ditch the fiance her traditional Indian parents have chosen. Simple. Until she's mistaken for a famous Bollywood actress, stalked by a Lone Ranger wannabe, courted by an English lord, and busted by the blackmailing fiance. Life is less complicated in New York. Or so she thinks, until the entourage of crazies follows her to the Big Apple and that's when the fun really begins. Shari deals with a blossoming romance, an addiction to Indian food and her first movie role, while secretly craving another trip to the mystical land responsible for sparking her new lease on life. Returning to her Indian birthplace, she has an epiphany. Maybe the happily-ever-after of her dreams isn't so far away?

This book definitely drew me in with how unique the plot was. I’m not to familiar with the Indian culture and Nicola does an excellent job of presenting it to her readers without making it feel like a documentary or something. She shows the beauty and appeal of India, with a particular focus on their amazing food. You also learn a bit about their traditions, which ties into why the main character is in India in the first place.
The basic premise is about a girl, Shari, who is getting over a bad relationship with a total jerk and agrees to help her friend get out of an engagement that she doesn’t want, in order to get away from her life and clear her head. Through all those antics, she discovers herself and possibly finds love, too. It’s really a great read, along the lines of the Chicklit genre, which I always love reading.
I found myself laughing at some parts, getting angry at others, and swooning at the hot and steamy parts; which is exactly what I want from a good book. I definitely enjoyed all the playful moments between Shari and Drew, the hot British guy I’d easily lust for, and their chemistry was a real highlight of this book.
If you love romantic comedies and contemporary fiction, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on this book. Witty characters, an exotic atmosphere, and great writing – Nicola Marsh gives you a book you can’t help but enjoy!
