Retribution has arrived.

Wow! Just, wow! I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book and I definitely couldn’t have imagined what Michelle Hodkin created. The endless praise for this book was astounding and spot-on, it would’ve been impossible for me not to get this book. This is unlike anything I’ve ever read and I honestly loved it.

The title says it all. In this book, you discover how Mara Dyer slowly unravels after a terrible accident that killed her friends and you see how strange things start to happen to the people around her. Michelle Hodkin’s writing is superb and original. She painted a gripping pictures and detailed scenes that left me speechless at times. She does a great job at blurring the lines between what we think is real and what isn’t.

While I can see how some wouldn’t like this book, it kind of throws you all over the place, the lure of the unknown plot in Michelle’s writing kept me going. Mara uncovers some crazy stuff about herself and about Noah, all the while trying to get her life back to normal and make it through high school. Her character is funny and tough, despite the tragedy that happened to her, and I have a soft spot for her brother Daniel, a real nice guy & great brother.

Don’t even get me started on Noah. Oh, Noah…such a sexy, charming, swoon-worthy bad boy I could easily lust after. He’s one of those guys that can just look at you with those smoldering, sexy eyes and leave you fanning yourself and  releasing that breath you didn’t know you were holding. I didn’t like him at first and his character was a bit shady and off, but once Mara started to crack through his shell and they interacted more, I couldn’t help but fall.

And that ending! Wow! I did not see that coming! I got to the last page and was like “WTH?! That’s it?!?! Nooooo!! I want more!!!”. Michelle really knows how to do a cliffhanger!

Mara Dyer’s got everything – romance, mystery, action, a bit of creepiness (that scare factor that immediately draws you to a book like this), and a bit of paranormal mixed in there, too. If you’re looking for something unique and original, get this book!
