Welcome! Welcome everyone, to my humble online abode. I hope you enjoy your stay here.
I’ve been waiting for this day for quite some time and when I finally got the email, I panicked. How am I going to best present myself so you all could see how interesting and great I am?! I argued over a self-interview, a mini autobiography, links of some of my favorite posts, etc. After grappling with myself for days to make sure I didn’t mess up this great opportunity, I decided I would share the spotlight with my oldest daughter, BG1, who is 7 and tell you a few funny stories about her.
FYI: If any of you remember me from my blog critique a couple months ago, you should know I’ll be going through a content revamp this year and you can expect great things, so I’d love to have you stick around and share these crazy, blog-worthy moments with me. Thanks!
I Think My Daughter is Figuring Out That I Don’t Know Everything
For some reason, my daughter doesn’t like to take showers. She’s not dirty or anything, we do make her take showers everyday, but if it were up to her, she wouldn’t.
One day, we had a nice little discussion:
Me: “Why don’t you like taking showers?”
BG1: “I don’t like taking showers because it makes me itchy.”
Me: “The itchiness is because you’re dirty. See, that’s why you have to take a shower everyday so you’re not dirty and itchy.”
BG1: “But, then why do I only itch after I take a shower and not before?”
BG1: (stares at me curiously and inquisitively) “Mommy?”
Me: “I don’t know the answer to that, sweetie.”
We both looked each other in the eye for second, then burst out laughing and I quickly changed the subject to that night’s dinner so she forgets this little #MomFail.
My Kid’s a Smartie
I don’t normally give my kids candy, so I thought BG1 didn’t have a favorite, but after this incident I realized she does.
It was a good day so she was allowed some treats and I casually walk into a room to find she is happily licking a few Smarties wrappers after having devoured them and not fully being satisfied. I just had to look at her with a “what the?!” face and laugh. She said she wanted more but Daddy told her he didn’t have anymore, so her solution was to lick the wrappers.
She’s a Smart Shopper
BG1 loves shopping for gifts at her school’s Santa Shop during Christmas time and after finding presents for the family, she had some money left over. Naturally, she couldn’t resist picking out some stuff for herself. She ended up choosing like 5 different things, but, being a clever little vixen, she tried to play it off and wrote on each of the tags that it was for her little sister, who is only 10 months. I love how she has mastered the art of rationally buying gifts for yourself, while making you look good and nice. I’m sure her teachers thought she was just being a great big sister.
Later on, however, The Hubbi asked her to put the presents she bought under their little Christmas tree while at Grandma’s house, and she got upset and said, “I wish I had presents under the tree.” The Hubbi responded with, “What are you talking about? Those are all your gifts.” Her response, “I know, but they don’t have my name on it!”. Ah, kids…
So, what funny little anecdotes do you have to share about your kids?!
