Project BG2, Week 48 – Look Who’s Walking!

February 2, 2012 Project BG2 10

You read that right, my friends. My adorable, smart, crazy little baby girl took her first few steps this week (Tuesday, Jan 31st, to be exact)! How crazy and awesome is that?!? I was so shocked and amazed, and proud, of course.

We’ve been getting her to stand here and there for the past couple of months and she skillfully mastered standing just fine. We’d often see her just standing there staring at something or holding something. She’s also great at walking if someone’s holding her hands or while she’s holding onto something like the couch or table. But for the past few weeks she’s really been trying to take a few steps on her own, most of the time giving up before getting anywhere and plopping on her butt. Then, miraculously, she took it upon herself to surprise her dear, old mom and took THREE steps from her walker to the coffee table!!!!

How do you like them apples?!?!

I was shocked and couldn’t really believe what I just saw. I was also extremely disappointed that I didn’t have my camera on me to record this epic moment! Argh!

So, naturally, I grabbed the camera and proceeded to get her to repeat the thrilling moment, only to have her tease me and plop down on her butt more than anything else. Oh sure, she took a step here and there, after like 10 tries of getting it on camera, but this girl just does not want to show off on video. She did manage to do her 3-step trick for her Daddy later on that night, who didn’t get to see it the first time.

Hmm, you would think she’d be used to the camera by now since she sees it everyday, but I think she’s getting tired of it because lately when I bring it out, she looks away and doesn’t care for it. Sigh…

Anyways, she’s still a bit shaky and hesitant, but with any luck, she’ll be walking like a champ within the next week or two. Perfect timing since she’s now 11 months and will be able to run around on her birthday. So happy, excited, and proud of my baby. I knew walking was in the near future since her sister was walking before her 1st birthday too. I just can’t believe it’s all happening so fast! How can I want her to grow and learn new things, yet stay small and adorable forever?!? Aiya!

Well, there’s no turning back now!

Yay! It is an exciting day when they learn how to walk. However, it changes everything lol! I am still waiting for my almost one year old to walk. She just now started standing on her own. I think my 2.5 yr old can’t wait either for her sister to run around with her.

Yes, the big sister can’t wait until she doesn’t have to carry the baby around anymore and she can just run around on her own, haha. I bet your little one will be walking in no time, enjoy the crawling days while it lasts. 🙂

How cool! I totally understand what you mean about wanting her to learn and yet stay small. I feel the same exact way about my kids. Hopefully she’ll let you get it on video soon.

Haha, can you believe she’s walking so much better now, yet I keep forgetting to get it on video?! We have some shots here and there, but nothing too great. I think it’s because we see it all the time now that we don’t record it. I must rectify that asap! LOL!

Hey there! It has been a while since I’ve been here. I have not been blogging much since I started working. Anyway, I just LOVE the new design, especially the color. It’s my absolute fave.

I am so happy that your baby started walking already. Our Ziggy has been trying as well but so far he’s still a bit scared to walk on his own, but he’s getting there. I am so jealous that you have been able to continue with your Project BG2. I wasn’t able to when I started working. Oh well! Congrats again!

Hey Janice! I’ve been wondering what happened to you! I miss seeing Ziggy’s adorable face! His birthday is coming up right!?! What are you planning on doing?!! I bet he’s super big and adorable right now. Thanks for the love, I really have to push myself to keep this up since I’ve been working again now too, so I’ve been super tired and busy, haha. But it’s almost over! :/

Ugh, don’t you just hate that?!?! I really wish I could afford to have a photographer/videographer just follow this girl around 24/7 so I don’t miss anything because once I pull out that camera, she’s like “No, Mom. I don’t wanna show off for you!” Sigh…. 🙂

Yes! It’s truly a memorable moment and I love how excited and proud they get when they know they’ve mastered such a key skill in life. She’s a walking champ nowadays! 😉
