Aura’s life is anything but easy. Her boyfriend, Logan, died, and his slides between ghost and shade have left her reeling. Aura knows he needs her now more than ever. She loves Logan, but she can’t deny her connection with the totally supportive, totally gorgeous Zachary. And she’s not sure that she wants to.
Logan and Zachary will fight to be the one by her side, but Aura needs them both to uncover the mystery of her past—the mystery of the Shift.
As Aura’s search uncovers new truths, she must decide whom to trust with her secrets…and her heart.

Aura is slowly starting uncover the secrets of her past and realize her destiny in this world filled with ghosts and Shades. I definitely liked learning more about the Shift and about Aura’s history. Her mother and father are mysterious characters and Aura’s finding out her true identity is key to the story and also something the DMP, the agency that manages ghosts and the like, is paying strict attention to.

I have to say I liked this book a lot more than the first. Although still not a page-turner, it certainly had its moments that left me in awe and other times where I was deeply engrossed. In the end, I was definitely left wanting more.

Even though Zachary plays more of a part in this book, I still didn’t get a real connection to him. He is nice and sweet, obviously a good choice for Aura, but I didn’t get that swoon, love factor I like to get with guys from a book. I feel like the story is more about the Shift, Aura’s part in it all, and what the future holds for this society.

I think you’ll find the plot interesting enough to finish this series through until the end. Aura is a great character herself, very determined and strong-willed. I’m intrigued and can’t wait to see how it ends.

Yep, there’s a lot more to this than the romance and love how Ready takes a different spin on ghosts and those who can see/interact with them.
