Bookish Events – Cassandra Clare at Anderson’s Bookshop

May 10, 2012 Bookish Events 3

What an event! I was so happy, excited, and lucky to get the chance to attend Cassandra Clare’s ONLY US book event at Anderson’s Bookshop for the release of City of Lost Souls. I loved her Mortal Instruments Series and her Infernal Devices series is becoming quite a HOT item!

After driving over 4 hours to get there, sigh, the line wasn’t too bad to start off with and the Anderson’s staff was great this time around. They worked efficiently and quickly to pass out the tickets and books. Luckily, I was #176 as opposed to #271 like last time! LOL! Slowly, but surely, the line grew and grew, all excited fans to see Cassie.

The first thing that happened was the male model who portrays Jace on the book cover came out to introduce the CoLS book trailer, which was pretty awesome. It was dark, mysterious, intriguing, and well done. Loved it!

Next up, Cassie came on stage to talk to the fans and she did a fabulous Q&A. Her answers were so hilarious and she’s such a cool and adorable person. Her team also passed out posters, t-shirts, and jewelry. So awesome!

Some of my favorite and most memorable parts of the Q&A:

Which guy would Cassie choose? -> Magnus (lol)
Some of Cassie’s favorite mangas are Fruits Baskets (Adored that one!), Full Metal Alchemist, Neon Genesis Evangelion, to name a few!
Will hatred of ducks is based on a true story about “cannibal ducks”, mallard pie, and a park in London with her friend/author Sarah Rees Brennan (Hilarious story!)
Cassie is most proud of Clockwork Prince (LOVED that book!)
She promises a main character will die by the end of the series (OH NO!!!!)
Magnus is based off of Cassie’s friend John who used to go clubbin’ with Cassie and would always wear body glitter (Another hilarious story.)
Cassie’s favorite books: Anna Dressed in Blood, The Fault in Our Stars, I Hunt Killers, The Daughter of Smoke & Bone, The Girl of Fire & Thorns, & so much more!

Here is some video I shot of Cassie’s Q&A.

After that it was time for the signing, which didn’t take as long as I thought it would, but it kind of sucked because they limited the books we could get signed. Bummer! While fans were waiting though, they could get runes painted on them and they could take pictures with the cover model, who is quite cute, I might add. They also passed out cool Shadowhunter post cards that features the family rings.

Cassie is such a doll. Although I only got to meet her for like a minute, she’s very sweet and asked who my favorite character is (Jem!!!!), who I think Tessa should pick, and who I’d pick. She also had a tally going for favorite character, which I thought was cool.

Over all it was so much fun and great to finally meet Cassie. Can’t wait to read CoLS!
