Book Blogger Love-a-Thon Interview with Book Addict Guide

February 23, 2013 Interviews 9

love-a-thon

Welcome to the 2013 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon!

Today I’m interviewing the lovely Brittany from The Book Addict’s Guide.

1. How long have you been blogging and why did you start? How did you come up with your blog name?

I first started my blog in April of 2012 so I’m almost at the year mark! It’s gone by SO quickly that I feel like I’ve been blogging way more than a year. I originally started it on a whim – My friend and I had been reading A LOT and I asked her if she would read a blog if I started to write book reviews. I kind of just dove in head first and came out almost a year later with this! The name came from when my friend and I had found this used bookstore that we never knew about. We kept going back and getting more and more and more books and I couldn’t stop buying! It actually used to be “The Book Addict’s Guide to Reading” but after further thought, I didn’t like how it sounded and it was too long, so I shortened it to “The Book Addict’s Guide”.

2. What are some of your favorite books?

Harry Potter (of course), anything by Gayle Forman, The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay, Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins, Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell… OH the list could go on and on!!

3. What has been your favorite/most memorable part about blogging?

Honestly, it’s been working with and getting to know the other amazing bloggers out there. I talk to a few of my blogger friends way more than I talk to my friends who live close to me and it’s been fantastic creating new friendships over a shared passion πŸ™‚

4. What are some other passions/hobbies you have besides reading?

Reading takes up the majority of my time! Haha!! I like to pretend I know anything about photography since my boyfriend got me a really nice camera for my birthday last year, but it’s all just for fun. We also like to take camping trips over the summers and we frequently BBQ and homebrew (beer). A lot of my new hobbies have come from sharing his!

5. What books are you looking forward to in 2013?

I still need to read Pivot Point! I’m dying to read it. Also, is it time for Just One Year (Gayle Forman) already!?!?!?!

6. If you could be a character from any book, who would it be and why?

I’d probably go with the easy/common answer and say Hermione Granger. She’s fierce, smary, witty AND she gets to do magic!

7. What has been the hardest part about blogging? Honestly?

Slowing myself down! I feel like I get all these crazy ideas for features/memes/giveaways/upgrades and I have to take a step back and remind myself that there is PLENTY of time to fit in everything I want to do. I have to take a day to think on my ideas sometimes too because what may sound great when I think of it is totally awful once I stop to look back on it!!

8. Do any of your friends and family read your blog? What do they think about the idea of book blogging? Do you have a lot of people IRL who love reading as much as you do?

No one in my family reads my blog that I know of, and definitely not my friends (I’m a closet blogger LOL) – My aunt once said she wanted to read it, but I haven’t seen her stop by. My boyfriend is a great supporter of me and my reading habit! He always brags about me to his friends and I’m like SHHHH they don’t care about a book blog! They’re cool about it though. Outside of his friends, I don’t really tell anyone I blog LOL. I feel like people don’t quite get it and people who don’t understand the love of YA tend to judge me for reading YA! It’s one of the many reasons I’m so glad there’s an awesome community to turn to πŸ™‚

Thanks so much for answering all my questions. I loved getting to know you more, Brittany! Go check out her blog! See all the other cool things happening today for the Book Blogger Love-a-Thon!

Haha, yes. I don’t talk about my online life with my IRL friends, it just feels weird to me.
