One Line: I loved this story so much, a great tale of romance, second chances, and taking risks that had me glued to the pages.
About the Book: Interior designer Holly Carrington worked hard for her success. Then tragedy struck, leaving Holly the sole guardian of her infant niece. Now she’s swapped her designer purse for a diaper bag, and is going ahead with plans to renovate—and sell—her childhood home in Red River. But facing her past also means coming face-to-face with Quinn Manning all over again…Quinn was the object of her girlhood crush—and heartbreak— and is more gorgeous than ever. He’s also the only person qualified to oversee the renovation. Now they’re butting heads every step of the way… and their attraction is more electrifying than ever! But once the house is sold, Holly needs to return to her real life. And falling for Quinn all over again is one risk she can’t take…
A Risk Worth Taking had be surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I really loved Holly’s story and empathized with her situation. Quinn is a typical male protagonist, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I loved them together. Their chemistry was great, I loved their banter, and their heat was sizzling. I liked how Victoria put her own spin on “second-chance love”. All of the characters were fun and entertaining, and the story flowed smoothly.
Victoria knocks you off your feet right from the get-go with the tragic accident that takes the lives of Holly’s sister & brother-in-law and leaves her with her adorable baby niece to care for. You definitely feel for Holly and her situation, especially her decision to sell her childhood home. She wants to get away from all the memories and start a new life. Things don’t go according to plan, obviously, after she spends time with Quinn, the guys she’s loved basically all her life. You learn pretty quickly why things didn’t work out for them, but you can also see their attraction show through as they start to work on the house together. I loved their banter and how they butted heads while making decisions for the house. It was funny and entertaining. I also loved little Ella, Holly’s niece. She played a key part in helping to bring Holly & Quinn back together, and in healing their broken hearts. It was really a heartfelt story and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I think if you’re a fan of “second chance love” and enjoy a good romance with substance, you’ll easily devour this one. The plot is emotional, touching, and entertaining. The characters are fun and interesting. I actually hope Victoria will write some companion novels for some of the characters, especially Quinn’s brothers (you know I love a good set of brothers, lol), as I think they would be great stories to tell, too.
