Welcome to the Lover Undercover Blog Tour. Today I’ll be interviewing the author, Samanthe Beck, who I adore!
1. How did you come up with the idea for Lover Undercover?
I live in Los Angeles and I drive down Sunset sometimes to get from my house to a friend’s place in Hollywood. In the process I pass this kind of famous gentlemen’s club along Sunset Strip near Chateau Marmont. I was stuck in traffic there one day, looking at the club, thinking…Hmm. What a strange job that would be. What if…?
2. What kind of research did you have to do into stripping/strip clubs and the techniques that Kylie had to perform?
I actually visited the club on Sunset eons ago, but I’ll admit, I had no freaking clue what went down in a “VIP room” or during a “private dance.” I talked to my sister, who was an LAPD officer for 10 years, and brother-in-law, who is an LAPD homicide detective, and I feel like I have a pretty good idea of what’s not supposed to go down in one! I also did a lot of online research. And then I just let my imagination run wild…wild I tell you! Check it:
“I’ve been a bad girl,” Kylie cooed in a decent imitation of Stacy’s deliberately provocative purr.
“What?” When Trevor’s dark, captivating eyes lifted helplessly to hers, she brought her palm down on her left buttock with a quick, loud slap.
“Oh God,” he said, and his eyes dropped to the cheek where a pink handprint formed.
“You like bad girls?”
“Huh?” he grunted, his eyes still glued to her ass.
3. What are some of your favorite books? What are you reading right now?
I just finished Hayson Manning’s gorgeous Indulgence, “Wife in Name Only,” and give it five big, shining stars. It’s funny, sweet, emotional and sexy. I also recently finished an advance copy of Robin Bielman’s new Bliss, “Kissing the Maid of Honor,” which comes out in May. I had the privilege of doing the cover quote for the book and I’ll tell you what I told her, “The perfect blend of sweet, sexy and heartwarming. Pure Bliss!”
I’m about halfway through my release-sister Cindy Dee’s April Brazen “Femme Fatale,” and peoples…it is HOT! Then I’ve got Katee Robert’s newest Brazen, “Chasing Mrs. Right” queued up next on my Kindle.
4. Any idea who you would cast as Kylie, Stacy, Trevor, & Ian?
For Kylie and Trevor, I really like the cover models Entangled used on the book. Don’t know who they are, but they fit the mental picture in my head pretty well!
If I had to go Hollywood, Trevor would be a young Eric Bana. Kylie and Stacy are identical twins…but very different. I think Elisha Cuthbert could pull off both soft, pretty Kylie and tough, wild Stacy. I would cast Sam Worthington as Ian.
5. Any hints on what you’re working on next?
Well, as you’re reading Lover Undercover, keep your eye on Stacy and Ian!
This or That:
– Text or Talk: I like talking more than texting, but I probably text more than I talk.
– Target or Walmart: Target. It’s a problem! Go to http://samanthebeck.com/uncategorized/easy-target.html to see why.
– Sugar or Chocolate Chip cookies: Cookieeeees!
– Dine In or Out: Out, as long as we have a sitter.
– Bikini or One-Piece: It’s probably time to cut it out, but I live by the beach, and I still rock a bikini every now and again.
About Lover Undercover
He’s undercover. She’s in over her head.
Yoga instructor Kylie Roberts is the good twin. At least she was—until an accident forces Kylie to step into her twin’s sexy stilettos at a posh Hollywood “men’s club.” But nothing could’ve prepared Kylie for the dead body in the club’s parking lot or the ridiculously hot detective who insists the killer is targeting her regulars.
Detective Trevor McCade needs Kylie’s help to draw out the killer. It means long nights undercover and long dances where Kylie’s body tempts him with sensual promises. Dances that leave them both wanting more. But despite Kylie’s hidden identity and the danger lurking in the shadows, it’s only a matter of time before Kylie and Trevor take this undercover operation under the covers…
Beach bum, book junkie, and award winning author of sexy contemporary romances, Samanthe recently signed with Entangled Publishing to write three novels for their Brazen line!
Sam was transfixed from an early age with any tale featuring a handsome prince, a great dress, and, of course, the all-important kiss, and eventually aspired to write her own happily-ever-afters. Naturally, she became a lawyer. The legal world heaved a sigh of relief a few years ago when Samanthe retired from law to take the plunge as a writer.
When not living the glamorous life of a romance author (i.e., chained to her computer), Samanthe keeps busy with the care and feeding of her extremely patient prince-charming of a husband, a not-so-patient ball of energy known as their son, a furry ninja named Kitty, and Bebe, the trash talkin’ Chihuahua. Their love, support, and willingness to eat Pizza Hut three or more times a week enables Samanthe to pursue her literary dreams.
