One Line: With a sexy cop & sexy stripper undercover to catch a murderer, what is there not to love?
About the Book: He’s undercover. She’s in over her head. Yoga instructor Kylie Roberts is the good twin. At least she was—until an accident forces Kylie to step into her twin’s sexy stilettos at a posh Hollywood “men’s club.” But nothing could’ve prepared Kylie for the dead body in the club’s parking lot or the ridiculously hot detective who insists the killer is targeting her regulars. Detective Trevor McCade needs Kylie’s help to draw out the killer. It means long nights undercover and long dances where Kylie’s body tempts him with sensual promises. Dances that leave them both wanting more. But despite Kylie’s hidden identity and the danger lurking in the shadows, it’s only a matter of time before Kylie and Trevor take this undercover operation under the covers…
As much as I loved Samanthe’s first novel, Private Practice, I seriously fell for Lover Undercover. Not only are the characters interesting and sexy, the plot is entertaining, intense, and dramatic. I love Samanthe’s ability to weave scintillating smexy scenese with riveting plot points, making this a book with substance.
Kylie is a pretty decent female protagonist. She’s very dedicated, smart, and sensible. I liked that she stuck to her idea of making something with her life, not settling, and following her passion. She never let anything get in her way growing up and was always there for her sister, Stacy. I really liked their relationship and even though I sometimes felt like Stacy took advantage of Kylie, she was also fiercely protective of her and I get their twin relationship. My favorite parts were when we’re inside Kylie’s head as she’s running through the stripper techniques that Stacy taught her. It’s pretty hilarious and adds to her adorable personality. Samanthe does a good job at painting a vivid picture of stripping so that it’s not too sleazy and more sensual, if anything.
Trevor is such a sexy guy. He’s a cop, which gives him the danger factor. He’s very observant and detail-oriented, so it was cool seeing him put the pieces together as the story progressed. He’s also a man who knows what he wants and goes for it. I loved the private dance scenes with him and Kylie, because those were some of the most heated and tense scenes in the book. Trevor poses as one of Kylie/Stacy’s clients to lure the murderer out and he gets her to use some of her best moves, which doesn’t work so well in his favor since it turns him on. He knows how to turn the heat up himself and there were quite a few scenes outside the strip club where he proved it. Overall, he’s a pretty swoonworthy guy, not to mention sweet, attentive, and caring. That ending? Loved it!
Trust me when I say you really can’t go wrong with a Brazen book. Each author has delivered excellent stories filled with memorable characters and tons of well-written intimate scenes. Samanthe is easily one of my favorites and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. Filled with witty dialogue and a steady flowing plot line, Lover Undercover will have you flying through the pages with ease.
