I Challenge Myself to Tackle That Damn TBR Pile

June 3, 2013 Books 15

The TBR Pile Challenge

Objective: Read every TBR book, both physical and digital, that I own/have for review for the next year.

Motive: My piles are getting a bit insane. And then I keep buying more or accepting more review books, which adds to the piles. That also means that I never get a chance to read those books that I bought ages ago!

Well, that’s about to change!

Challenge: I will refrain from buying ANY more books from now until I finish all my TBR books, with the exception of JLA books (I can’t say no to her books) or books I buy at events. I will, however, accept an occasional review book here and there for a tour or whatever, if I’m very interested in it. For the most part though, my review books are dwindling down, which I’m kind of happy about, really.

The Next Step: After I read all the books in my TBR arsenal, I will then tackle that crazy ass TBR list I have on Goodreads. I’ll be slowly going through it and taking out the books I don’t really want to read and then I will make it a point to get my hands on those that I do want to read and read ’em. My current list stands at over 700 books, which is pretty daunting, but I know there are a bunch of books on there that I added just because, or sequels to books where I read the first and didn’t care to continue. So yeah, there will definitely be a deep cleansing of sorts for that list in the near future.

I’m not looking forward to going through the list so much, but I am looking forward to reading the books I want from it. There are still plenty of series that I need to finish or long-ago books that I’ve been meaning to read.

Overall, I think this should be fun and I’m excited to finally be making the books I do have more of a priority.

Just look at all those beauties that I still need to read!

And these are only SOME of my ebooks I still need to read. As you can see there are still more pages after this first one, and in each collection, there’s a bunch of books that I still need to read (a few of them are even those hefty Game of Thrones books that I’ve been meaning to tackle).

I will be doing monthly updates of the books I read that month and letting you all know my progress. I know the first part of this challenge, reading the physical books, won’t be a problem at all since I’ve been dying to read them all, but the second part, reading ALL the ebooks I have and even the third part, tackling my TBR list will be pretty daunting. Yikes!

I can do this, right?! Yeah!!

I think I should take part in this challenge, because I have an insanely huge TBR pile (both ebooks and physical copies). But the MAJOR problem I would have is refraining myself from buying books :(. I truly try not to, but then there are these amazing books being released that it is impossible not to click the one-click button. But good luck in this challenge :D!

Lol, so far I’m doing okay. Slowly getting thru those books. I hope you can get thru your pile too!
