About the Book: He’ll guard her body all night long.
Former Marine Jude Wilde’s motto has always been “burn bridges and never look back,” so nobody is more surprised when Wilde Security is hired to protect assistant district attorney Libby Pruitt, the woman he loved and left. Although she makes it clear she wants nothing to do with Jude, they’re forced to fake a relationship for her safety. He can’t ignore the heat still simmering between them, and when her stalker’s threats escalate to attempted murder, he’s left with no choice but to whisk her away to a friend’s safe house in Key West, FL.
Cooped up in paradise together, Jude begins to chip away at Libby’s resolve to hate him. But even as she gives in to his proximity and her body’s demands for his, she refuses to fall for his charms again. Maybe a torrid affair in the sun is exactly what she needs to get him out of her system. But when her stalker tracks them down, can they escape the steamy Key West night without anyone getting hurt?
Wilde Nights in Paradise was a decent story filled with some action, a bit of mystery, and a lot of fun, sexy times. I have to admit, I didn’t see the real threat coming until it almost right before it happened, and I loved how Burrows twisted the story that way. She created some pretty interesting characters and you know I’m a sucker for a man in uniform. This one is definitely a quick and steamy read that any and all romance readers will enjoy.
Jude was an okay guy. I didn’t really think the reason why he wronged Libby was that plausible and that aspect of the plot fell kind of flat for me, but otherwise, the story was good. I also wanted a little more insight into the dynamics of Jude and his brothers. I liked their time together at the safe house, seeing their relationship grow. Probably my favorite aspect of this book was Libby’s physical appearance. I loved that she was a “bigger” girl and pretty comfortable in her skin. She had her moments of insecurity and self-doubt, but for the most part, she’s pretty confident (and fiesty). I really liked her character (what she did when she first sees Jude again is pretty hilarious). It was a plus that Jude was so attracted to her and helped to instill the idea that all kinds of body shapes can be sexy in their own right. I also loved their banter and it was easy to tell these two have great chemistry together.
While this one didn’t WOW me like I was hoping, it was still a good read. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author and series and seriously hope that the other Wilde brothers get their own stories. You all know I’m a sucker for a hot set of brothers!
