Title: Catching Liam (Good Girls Don’t #1) [Goodreads][Amazon]
Author: Sophia Bleu
Release Date: July 8, 2013
In My Opinion: Add to cart!
One Line: Another guy to add to the book boyfriend list!
About the Book: Twenty-one year-old Jillian Nichols only has one rule when it comes to boys: catch and release. Boy-catching isn’t just a game for Jillian and her friends, it’s a lifestyle. After all, boys might be good for a dance or a drink and certainly a little under-cover action of the scandalous variety, but expect much else and you’re bound for heart ache.
So when her best friends and fellow boy catchers start dropping like flies junior year, Jillian is determined to keep boys in her bedroom and out of her heart. Until she meets Liam McAvoy, the kind of guy that sticks around to make waffles and who can’t—or perhaps won’t—take a hint.
Study abroad student Liam doesn’t want to be another notch on Jillian’s bedpost. Actually he has much more interesting ideas for Jillian and her bedposts, but his student visa’s set expiration date means he can’t promise her forever. That doesn’t mean he’s going to walk away from the challenge of discovering why Jillian is hell-bent at keeping people at a distance.
Before long, neither is sure who is catching who—or if they’re playing for keeps. Jillian knows one thing though: falling in love will not only break the only rule of boy-catching, it could also break her heart.
Well, it looks like I have to add yet another guy to the VERY long list of awesome book boyfriends I’m in love with. Catching Liam definitely caught my attention! Oh, if only I could’ve met a sexy Scottish boy who chased me relentlessly, swept me off my feet, and cooked for me all the time. I really enjoyed the romance, even if the female lead was a bit annoying.
I’ll be honest, Jillian didn’t appeal to me at all. I knew she had a secret which caused to her live the lifestyle that she does and keep people at arm’s length, but I felt it was a bit too much and I couldn’t really sympathize with her at all. I think it took a little too long for her secret to come out and when it did, I couldn’t really believe it. Her attitude towards everyone and everything didn’t help me like her and even at the end, I still just felt so-so about her.
Obviously, the best part of this book is Liam. He’s one of those genuinely good guys who just happen to be charming and sexy, too. Not to mention the boy makes a mean waffle! What’s not to love?! I loved his perseverance and how he helped Jillian open up and believe in true love. Things were a little rough once the truth came out and I was kind of thrown off by how he handled it all, but I guess it added a bit of realism to it, because you just don’t know how you would handle a situation like Jillian’s and I think Bleu did a good job with it.
Catching Liam is a fun and sweet romantic story about falling in love, trusting others, and dealing with some of the hardships life throws at you. Granted, I didn’t love it as much as I was hoping, I still really liked it. I think this had more to do with Jillian and her issues. I didn’t like the way that part of the story was delivered. Luckily, Liam more than makes up for that and You really can’t help but fall for his charm. Romance readers will enjoy this one, for sure.
