About the Book: Competitors by day, lovers by night…
Allegra Wilks has had the worst month of her personal and professional life. To save her company, she must go on her would-be honeymoon and land the luxury eco-island resort’s lucrative advertising account. But when a lingerie mishap leads her into the arms of a wickedly distracting Australian, Allegra’s tempted to skip the trip and explore the most sensual kiss she’s ever experienced. Too bad their chance encounter at the airport is just that.
Having recently lost his company to his former best friend’s shady business tactics, Jett Alcott is headed to a South Pacific resort to secure an advertising account that will resurrect his reputation and career. Realizing the tantalizing Allegra Wilks is on his flight, Jett envisions a week filled with business and pleasure. But Jett doesn’t know Allegra’s fighting for the same account, or that there’s more at stake than his heart.
Wicked Heat is a great addition to the Brazen line. I really enjoyed reading this one. Not only were the sexy scenes crazy-hot, I loved the (somewhat) twist in the plot. Allegra and Jett are both vying for the same deal, but Allegra is the only one who knows the truth. Honestly, I didn’t know who I was rooting for more. Both had a lot to lose and a lot riding on this million dollar deal that could make or break their careers. Add to that their troubled pasts and it’s hard not to want both of them to win. Things were neck and neck there and I couldn’t really tell which way Marsh was going to go, but ultimately, I was happy with how it all ended.
Allegra and Jett have insane chemistry and I really liked them as a couple. The beginning and how they meet is a pretty funny story and their plane ride was all kinds of awesome. Seriously, I want to fly First Class one day and experience the lap of luxury! I think my favorite scene was them on the plane. Anyways, while on the island, I loved seeing them really get to know each other. Also, I liked that they set the boundaries and pretenses upfront so no one would misunderstand and get hurt. Things eventually take a turn for the worse, obviously, but I liked how it all played out. Allegra stood out for me as a great character. I loved how smart and sassy she was. She was also always quick to come up with ideas and figure things out, which played into the plot when things unraveled. I don’t know if I’m making any sense, but if you read the book, you’ll understand. I think they fit together perfectly and I loved seeing them fall in love.
I’m really hoping we get more from Nicola in the Brazen category, particularly about Allegra’s best friend, Zoe, who I adored in this book. Nicola’s writing is fun and engaging. Her characters are great and she sure knows how to write those sexy scenes! I definitely thought the plot was refreshing and the characters had substance to them, which made them stand out. Romance readers of all kinds will love this!
