As the Bump Grows: Week 16

March 10, 2014 As the Bump Grows, Pregnancy 4

Wow! Can’t believe I’m starting another pregnancy diary! If you missed the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT, check it out. I’m starting this one a little earlier than I did with my previous one, but that’s mostly because I couldn’t wait to start chronicling this pregnancy, since it’ll be my last.

And now for the belly shot:

I know I look pretty big already and I’ll admit it’s 2/3 of my fat and only 1/3 of Baby right now, but considering my uterus is growing up, it’s really just pushing things out and making my belly look bigger than it was before anyways. I’ve come to terms that I was already my biggest before I became pregnant, and was actually going to start losing weight before I found out, so I’m okay with how I’m looking lately. At least I have a reason, right?! Also, since I gained less weight during the first trimester (plus one month) overall than with my previous pregnancies, I’d say I’m doing pretty good.

Anyways, I wanted to keep things short and simple this time around, so you’ll be seeing the belly shot, a little of me rambling (which could be long or short, lol), and then the more technical updates below.

Baby Size: About the size of an “Avocado” – 4.5in, 3.5oz
Gender: Unknown, but I just got the slip from my OB to make an US appt so I can’t wait to find out!
Movement: None yet, but I’m hoping that will change soon!
Weight Gained: 9lbs since conception – I think I gained most of it within the 1st couple of months when I still had my appetite. Then the nausea hit me for 6-7 weeks and I gained no weight. Things have been better the last couple of week so I was able to put on 3lbs.
New Pregnancy Symptoms: Nothing really new, but since this is my first entry, I have to tell you, I’ve had about all of those damn symptoms over the past 4 months. Fatigue was kicking my butt. Nausea was a bitch for way too long. I suffer from a consistent, dull headache daily. There has been some minor round ligament pain, backaches, and even the occasional pelvic pressure/pain/ache. I’d had a few mood swings, but nothing super crazy. I did have to pee like a fountain for a minute there, but that went away quickly. My breasts have probably been suffering the most though. Not only did it already go up a cup size, but they have been itching like crazy! They’re pretty dry, sensitive, and all that, which drives me insane. I also wake up with a stuffy nose on most days, and during the night, too, which they say is due to the increase in blood vessels and blood in general. Oh, and the big thing is my acid reflux/increased gas. It started early this time around, which sucks. The gas is so annoying and I really wish I were one of those people who could burp on command.
Cravings/Aversions: None. My appetite has slowly returned and the nausea is thankfully gone, but nothing really interests me anymore. I basically just eat because I’m hungry. I used to have a strong aversion to the smell of spicy food for the first few weeks, but nothing lately.
Sleep Changes: I find myself waking up a lot earlier than usual, like around 6-7AM. I also get up a lot at night. I just can’t sleep for long periods without moving some side or the other. It’s not too bad yet where I’m not feeling rested though.
How I’m Feeling: Good. I’m excited for my upcoming US and feeling the baby kick. I haven’t been feeling very moody lately either. I have been pretty anxious about the baby’s health though, but I’m usually a worry wort anyways, so that’s nothing new. Oh, and those hormones have definitely been doing their job because I’ve been feeling pretty frisky lately, lol.
Anything Else: Right now I’m just thinking about whether the baby is growing right or not. I also like to browse online baby stuff, just to see what new things they have nowadays. And I’ve been obsessed with other preggos, like anyone I know or people I see, especially on Youtube (like It’s Judy’s Life and Bubz Beauty).

Thanks for following along on this journey with me. See you next week!
