I’ve been meaning to do this post for the LONGEST time, and even though Spring is over and Summer is near the end, I thought I’d still post this for anyone looking for ideas on how to stylishly dress a baby bump in the warmer months of the year.
Since this was my first “summer baby” I had to figure out what would look best on a burgeoning belly, but would also be comfortable and cool to wear during these crazy hot months. I also tried to steer clear of any outfits made specifically for pregnancy because this was my last one and I’m on a budget, so I really didn’t want to spend money on something I wasn’t going to wear again.
In the end, I chose to go with quite a few maxi dresses, because I thought that would look best, showing off the bump, while also being comfortable, easy for me to take off and on, and breezy. I also went with a couple of long shirts that would easily cover my butt, as well as show off the bump in a tight, yet cute way. I did end up buying a couple of pregnancy shirts, but only because they were so cheap and I figured I can just give them to friends or family after I’m done with them, so no biggie. I paired all the tops with a couple of tights, and things have been running smoothly. I bought all of these clothes in April/May, and haven’t had to get anything else since.
Let me preface this by saying that Forever 21 and Old Navy were my GO-TO stores. I bought all my outfits there, at reasonably cheap prices, and I couldn’t be happier. I seriously tried to stay under $10 (or close to it) for each item that I bought.
This first outfit is a top I got from Forever 21. It’s a regular long top that I paired with my Preggers tights. Even though when I wear it nowadays, it’s a bit tight when getting it on, it still covers my butt and shows off the belly in a cute way. Even though I don’t like the top part of it as much, because I have no shoulders and the neckline is very wide, I still wear it from time to time when I need something a bit more stylish.
This dress is my favorite maxi dress. I’ve noticed that most pregnancy outfits are striped for some reason, but I don’t mind. I love the look of this dress and I love that I can wear it without any accessories or anything like that, since I’m a minimalist. I got this maxi dress at Forever 21.
This was another maxi dress from Forever 21 that I really like. Since it’s a solid color, I usually pair it with some kind of belt to accentuate the bump more, making it look extra cute, and in the Spring months, I added a fitted jacket to complete the outfit.
Another maxi dress from Forever 21. I only wore this a couple times during my second trimester because it’s a bit tight. Also, I didn’t realize this when I bought it, but the back is kind of see-through. I really like how it looks though, I just don’t know if I can ever wear it again, lol.
This was another top from Forever 21, the same the first one, but in a different color. I just paired this with another pair of my Preggers tights and I actually prefer this color over the pink.
This one is my favorite top of all the ones I have. I got it from Old Navy and it’s actually a pregnancy top w/cinched sides for the belly. I loved the striped look because it just adds a bit of flair without having to add anything else to. I always pair it with black tights and call it a day.
I also bought a couple of pregnancy t-shirts and another top (all from Old Navy) like the one above, but in a dark brown color that I love wearing all the time with my tights. I was really going for comfort and great prices when trying to dress up my bump this summer. I wasn’t expecting to really go anywhere fancy or anything while I was pregnant, but I did also buy a cute printed dress that I wore to my Hubbi’s grand opening for his new business (and I’ve worn that a couple of other times for special occasions).
Overall, I was very pleased at all the clothes I bought and how I’ve made them last through this pregnancy.
