Journalist Caroline Preston arrives at Serve, New York City’s hottest BDSM club, with one goal—to hate it. If her brother wasn’t trying to turn the family’s respectable financial magazine into a publication that features “lifestyle” pieces for the wealthy and adventurous, she wouldn’t even be there, trying to write an article about a world she doesn’t understand. But then she sees him.
Jonah Briggs doesn’t leave his post for just anyone. As the owner of the club, his sole purpose is to ensure that his clientele get everything they need, but when he sees Caroline, his only thought is what he wants—to dominate the sexy little reporter and give the most exquisite pleasure she’s ever experienced.
Caroline has no intention of entering that particular lion’s den—not with her family’s reputation at stake—no matter how dark, sexy, and complex the lion in question may be. But with every encounter, she craves more, and with every slide of his lips, she realizes Jonah might just be the man to break down all her defenses…if she’ll let him.

One Line: Even if you’re not into BDSM, you’ll be into this book!
In My Opinion: Add to cart!
You all know how much I adore Tessa Bailey and her books, so even though I’m not particularly interested in BDSM, I had to give Owned by Fate a try – and I have to say, I enjoyed it. I liked that Bailey made it so much more than about BDSM. Sure, there’s not epic love story here, let’s be real, people. But, there is a couple who compliments each other very well and who happen to share explosive chemistry. Jonah provides the kinky sex appeal and Caroline is the strong, independent type with a hidden sex kitten characteristic. You heard this kind of story before? Not the way Bailey tells it.
Honestly, even though I haven’t read a lot of BDSM books, I felt like Owned by Fate was pretty tame. Maybe my imagination just runs wild when I think of that kind of thing, but everything in this book was tastefully done and even those who would shy away from a book like this can still get a kick out of it. I liked watching Caroline deny her attraction to Jonah and how he helped her let loose. Bailey makes it a point to run home the idea that the woman is, in fact, in charge. Whatever she wants done to her, that’s what you get. Sure, there’s a bit of role-playing and at times Jonah felt like the dominant one, but he only went as far as Caroline allowed and I appreciated that aspect of the their story.
I also liked that both Jonah and Caroline get their own story of sorts in addition to this being about them falling in love and all the sex. Jonah has to deal some family issues that are complicated by his line of work and Caroline fights to save the family business.
All in all, Bailey has another good book on her hands. And yes, she is still the queen of dirty-talking. You just have to expect a scorcher when you read one of her books. I will admit that this book didn’t captivate like her Line of Duty series did, but I still liked it and will definitely be checking out the rest of the series.
