The only place Kellan Kyle has ever felt at home is onstage. Gripping his guitar in a darkened bar, he can forget his painful past. These days his life revolves around three things: music, his bandmates, and hot hookups. Until one woman changes everything . . .
Kiera is the kind of girl Kellan has no business wanting-smart, sweet, and dating his best friend. Certain he could never be worthy of her love, he hides his growing attraction . . . until Kiera's own tormented heart hints that his feelings might not be one-sided. Now, no matter the consequences, Kellan is sure of one thing-he won't let Kiera go without a fight.
I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
One Line: My heart broke even more for Kellan Kyle! I love him!
In My Opinion: Add to cart!
I swear, reading this was like watching Titanic for the hundredth time. You know something bad is going to happen, yet you can’t look away. If you thought your heart broke for Kellan Kyle in Thoughtless, just wait until you’re really in his head, and his heart, in Thoughful. I just wanted to wrap this guy in a serious bear hug and tell him how worthy, special, and amazing he truly is. I think Stephens did an outstanding job at telling the same story from a different perspective. Reading this, I could easily picture those scenes in my head that I read about so long ago, but I saw them in a new light. I saw them through Kellan’s eyes and I saw just how much everything affected him.
As much as this could’ve been read by itself, I think readers would appreciate it more after reading Thoughtless. You get the bigger picture and a more complete story of Kellan and Keira’s relationship. Keira still comes off as a selfish, annoying, cold-hearted *itch in this book, but at least with Thoughtless, you can feel and understand her more. Yeah, reading this defintiely didn’t help paint a better picture for Keira at all, but it added more depth to their relationship and, honestly, I’ve always been in it for Kellan Kyle.
If you loved Kellan at all in Thoughtless, and honestly, how could you not, then you will definitely want to read this book. Not only is it interesting to see their relationship from his POV, I really loved the rest of the story that we didn’t get to see in Thoughtless. I loved getting a better understanding of Kellan and Denny’s relationship, more insight into Kellan’s childhood, and also seeing his relationship with his bandmates. His friendship with Evan ran a lot deeper than I thought it was nice seeing how much they all cared about Kellan.
Kellan Kyle is the driving force behind this series and one heck of a character. It was so crazy that even when Keira was breaking his heart he still had thoughts like “choose me” or “love me” or “don’t let me go”. I swear, with this series, each title truly fits the bill, because this book was packed with so many thoughts from the mind of Kellan Kyle, it was torturous to read, but in a good way, of course. It amazed me how selfless he was, a true masochist in a sense, because he was willing to take any part of Keira she was willing to give him and then endure seeing her give herself to Denny the very next second. I swear, their relationship not only hurts the heart, but it hurts the mind. It was just so emotionally taxing, but also hard to turn away from. Kellan is such a passionate character and Stephens has a way with her words that just compels you to hold on the book and read and savor every line she writes.
The book is pretty lengthy and emotions run extra high in this book, but it’s definitely a good read and if you’re already a fan of the series and of Kellan’s then you’ll definitely want to read this one. If I didn’t already love him, this book would’ve solidified it. I praise Stephens for creating Kellan Kyle!
