I am SO late in getting this post up, but better late than never.
ApollyCon was definitely an event to remember. Even though I’ve volunteered for events in the past, I’ve never really been THAT in on the action. This time though, especially on the actual event day, I was practically Damaris’ right-hand girl.
Overall, I think the event was a success. Yes, there were some kinks, especially with the lines and placement of the authors, but it all worked out in the end and everyone had fun. I’m up for planning/working another big event in the future with Damaris, for sure, and I’ve got plenty of ideas going forward.
The event was held at Embassy Suites near the PHL airport. The staff was very accommodating and the place itself wasn’t bad. The ballroom was large and I liked the set up, but outside of the ballroom wasn’t too great. There was definitely a lot of “traffic jams” and it was hard to get the lines in any particular order. Things worked out nonetheless.
My biggest gripe was that I didn’t get to spend any real time with the authors and I totally forgot to take pictures with a bunch of them. Sigh. But, considering I was in charge of those crazy lines during the event and in charge of the VIR bags during the after party, there wasn’t much time for me to do anything else. I knew what I was getting into, so I didn’t care so much. I did get to meet them all and chatted here and there, so it’s all good.
I had fun and even though I was totally exhausted at the end of the night and couldn’t feel my feet, I loved it!
It was fun chatting and hanging out with my girls from MD. Jen’s cupcakes were fantastic, as always. It was fun working with Hannah and Jessica as well.
I loved finally meeting Megan Erickson. She is such a tiny, adorable thing! She’s very friendly and fun and I seriously need to read her series since I’ve heard such great things about it.
YES! I finally got to meet the amazing Tessa Bailey, one of my all-time favorite authors. Such an amazing woman.
Loved hanging out with my girl, Amalie Howard yet again. She’s is just the nicest person ever. Not to mention, BG1 loves her and vice versa.
Yay for seeing Wendy Higgins again. I love her! She’s such a sweetheart and I do love her series.
After all this time, I finally got to meet Rachel Harris, another favorite author of mine. Such a doll! I love her!
Yep, BG1 and Amalie just have that special connection.
Me and Page Morgan! I loved meeting her!
Ah!! Sophie Jordan!! Another sweetheart and one I’m happy to have finally met.
The wild and crazy Jay Crownover. Her line was ALMOST as crazy as JLA’s line. I loved her look, btw. Such a great gal!
Of course, it’s always a highlight to meet fellow book buddies. I always love running into Bonnie from A Backwards Story. I totally loved the jewelry she rocked that day.
Seeing these ladies was a real treat. I always love seeing Jamie from The Perpetual Page-Turner and Alexa from Alexa Reads Books. It was also wonderful to finally meet Rachel from Hello Chelly and Betty from Book Rock Betty. All amazing ladies that are fun to chat with.
One of my favorite book buddies ever! I loved seeing Teresa from Readers Live a Thousand Lives again. She’s the best!
The event couldn’t have run as smoothly without the help of my amazingly fabulous hubs. He was there playing bouncer, manning the lines and keeping the masses at bay. Such an awesome guy for doing this for me and everyone loved him, of course.
It’s always lovely seeing the bubbly Cora Carmack. I especially loved her banner! So pretty! And she brought her plush kitty, lol.
As many times as I’ve seen Val from Stuck in Books, I’m happy to have finally gotten a picture with her!
I also loved meeting Eunice, a fellow JLA addict.
And, of course, the reason why we were all there – JLA. Jen was a real champ. Her line was ginormous and she ended up signing books until well after the actual event ended, close to 7PM, really. It was great meeting Drew, the cover model for The Return, such a nice guy. I also got to meet Stacy, Jen’s PA, who was also a sweetheart.
Ah, the afterparty. It was definitely a fun event. I didn’t get to partake much, of course, but it was cool seeing everyone in costume. I also got to enjoy some food and cupcakes, so it wasn’t all bad. BG1 had fun though, clearly, lol.
This guys’ costume was pretty awesome, so much so that he won the costume contest and nabbed an iPad mini. Sweet!
