Construction worker Russell Hart has been head-over-work boots for Abby Sullivan since the moment he laid eyes on her. But he knows a classy, uptown virgin like her could never be truly happy with a rough, blue-collar guy like him. If only she'd stop treating him like her personal hero—a role he craves more than oxygen—maybe he could accept it.

With the future of her family's hedge fund on her shoulders, Abby barely has time to sleep, let alone find love. And her best friend Russell acting like a sexy, overprotective hulk any time their Super Group goes out in public definitely isn't helping her single status. But after a near-tragedy lands Russell in her bed for the night, Abby's suddenly fantasizing about what he looks like shirtless. Chest hair and tattoos—who knew?

As Russell struggles to keep Abby at a safe distance, she begins to see through his tough-talking exterior—and acknowledge her own feelings. Now she's ready to turn the friend-zone into foreplay…and make him lose control.

I received this book for free from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

One Line: Russell and Abby FTW!

In My Opinion: Add to cart!

I have totally shipped this couple ever since their first encounter on the stoop of Roxy, Abby, and Honey’s apartment and Tessa did not disappoint. Their story is akin to that of a princess and the stable boy, or should I say, the Duke and the virgin, given Russell’s choice of reading material. Gah! I just had so much fun reading this. I love that Tessa knows how to mix in the humor with the sexy without it being cheesy. And, she knows just how much sexy to give readers, which isn’t much and is pretty tame compared to some of other other stuff. The lady knows her way around a bedroom, let me tell you, but I digress.

Poor Russell. That selfless, tortured galoot. He really did a number on himself and Abby in this book. His intentions were way too good and totally unnecessary, I couldn’t help but feel for the guy. It just couldn’t be helped though. He was a bit twisted with the number his mother did on him, and we all know the feeling of believing that you’re not good enough for someone. He made me want to hug some sense into him. I loved him so much! I knew I would right from the start. It was so hilarious seeing how much Abby affected him and how he was friend-zoned for so long. I give him credit for resisting as long as he did. When he and Abby FINALLY come together, it was goooooood (the extra O’s are totally needed). I loved how they pushed each other and tested each other’s limits. Abby being a virgin and Russell being the dominant type, it could’ve easily gotten way too rough, but Tessa (and Russell) handled it very nicely. Seeing a rough-around-the-edges guy like Russell trying his best, and failing, to be gentle with Abby was all kinds of entertaining.

As far as Abby goes, I liked her, although I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how she couldn’t tell that Russell had a perpetual hard-on for her ever since they met. The dude was downright obsessed, in a good and sexy way, of course. Girls usually have good intuition about these kinds of things, so it always baffles me when they don’t pick up on it. Anyways, Abby has some issues with her family she’s dealing with in this book and I liked learning more about her. She’s a rich girl, yes, but far from spoiled or entitled. That girl knows how to work her butt off and she’s good at what she does. She had a good mix of innocence and strength about her that made it easy for me to like her.

This was a satisfying book and it’s fitting that Tessa saved the best for last. Let me tell you, Russell can man-handle me any old day of the week! Also, that ending was just the sweetest thing ever and I loved the gesture he did to show that he loved Abby. I will seriously miss the Super Group and I totally need check-ins with them in the future.

About Tessa Bailey

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.

Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband of seven years and three-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
