I’m pretty much EPICALLY late in posting about this, but yeah, I couldn’t, in good conscience, not talk about this book that I got for BG2 a few months ago. I am a sucker for personalized books. Something about seeing your name in a book is just cool to me, and I love getting books like that for the kids.
I know you’ve heard me talk about other books like these, but this particular book was created by the company, Mabel’s Labels, who I also like for labels to put on the kids’ stuff. Their personalized books were more of a holiday thing, so I don’t see the products on their website anymore, but I’m sure they’ll bring it back, better than ever, for this upcoming holiday season towards the end of the year.
In any case, I really loved that this book had more than one story in it. Each one has the kid’s name worked into the story in such a way that makes the kid feel like they’re actually friends with the characters. That went over really well with BG2.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I will say that there was a bit of a mix-up when it came to my daughter’s name and they ended up spelling it wrong. There were also moments where they used the wrong names for her “friends”, which was kind of sad when I think about it. It’s okay now, though, since she can’t read yet and we kind of just go along with it, but when she does learn to read in the near future, I hope she doesn’t get bothered by this. Errors do happen and since I did receive this for review, I don’t fault them for it. The story itself and the way they incorporate the child’s name is still just as good.
So yeah, I chose the Disney Princess book, since my girls are into princesses. BG2 really loved the stories and seeing her name in the book alongside some of her favorite characters. Certainly not the best experience I’ve had with personalized books, like I said, but I’m sure if you end up getting this kind of book when they start selling it again, you’ll have a much better experience with it overall. As long as you’re careful with the spelling and all that, it’s really a great book and gift for kids.
Disclosure: I received this book for free from Mabel’s Labels and their PR company in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
